Yeah, that's about how sad my holidays were this Dec 2008. Not very looking forward to 2009 as well... but at least I have my Taipei and Bangkok trip booked for June 2009.JB
The day we went was the first day the new CIQ started its operations. Kind of apprehensive because we didn't know what was happening. Passed through the old checkpoint and I truly felt like an illegal immigrant because we didn't have to go through immigration...yet.
Waited like 1 hr before we cleared immigration. Lots of walking to be done this time round, exercise exercise exercise!!
At least the new checkpoint is just across the road from City Square, so started on our (my) shopping! Though it was quite disappointing, wanted to go Jusco but didn't have time to do it due to the jam and the long queue at immigration.
Thus, just ended up with Portuguese egg tarts... yes again.. and 2 pairs of shoes! At least not that bad.
Batam
Kind of a last minute thing and I had to go scour the Internet for good places to go. It must be because I was kind of in a daze and somehow or rather something must be playing a game with me. Whenever I just booked something, J would sms me and tell me about her Batam trip itself. For example, after I made reservations for a hotel in town, she smsed me saying that her spa at a sea view resort wasn't that bad. So in the end I thought about going there for spa only and actually wanted to make reservations, she smsed me say it's like a 30mins ride to her resort! That FAR! Luckily I managed to cancel it. didn't want to travel so far on the bumpy roads.
My loots from Batam = Mandi lulur, Ellips hair capsules, Jco Donuts, ABC Chili Sauce, and Mandi Lulur. Yes, I really really wanted to bring back the every single flavour of the numerous brands that they have. If I have the chance, will do a quick review on the different brands of mandi Lulur that I have tried. I bought only 15 bottles. J bought 20!!! *jealous*

No more semi-annual Bangkok trips... sobs... and especially how hard I tried to persuade him to go. We were both so looking forward to the trip. But I guess it's fate.
